PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PLURINATIONAL STATE OF
BOLIVIA, EVO MORALES AYMA TO THE COP21 OF THE UNITED NATIONS
FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Sisters and brothers
Recently, representatives of social organizations, scientists, legislators,
government representatives and peoples of the world met at the "World People's
Conference on Climate Change and the Defense of Life", between October 10th
and 12th of 2015 in Tiquipaya-Bolivia to discuss and analyze the situation of
climate change and life on our Mother Earth. The results of that great social
conference are a testament of the global concern surrounding the future of our
planet and humanity as a whole. The conclusions lead us to envision the looming
plagues of capitalism and to carry out urgent actions to save life.
Today we note with distress that:
- Hundreds of peoples and their cultures have disappeared and others are
disappearing.
- That millions of people have died or have been wiped out by hunger,
pests and disease.
- That the culture of war has prevailed over the culture of peace and life.
- That the world's history is full of massacres, blood, horror and injustice.
- That there have been acts of pillaging of the wealth and heritage of the
peoples by the oligarchies and elites.
- That the anthropocentric and market-based vision has embedded a
notion of nature as a mere object of exploitation and profit.
- That individualism, selfishness and consumerism are a plague that
destroys the communities.
